A Few Suggested Activities When You’re in Oklahoma City

Things to DoThere is no shortage of activities in Oklahoma City.  There are numerous outdoor activities to engage in as well as shopping and a few museums.

  • Museums: There are a number of museums in Oklahoma City that you should take the effort to visit while you are living in your Oklahoma City furnished apartment. The first on the list is the Science Museum Oklahoma on NE 52nd St. Lots of things to explore and learn while you’re here. There is also the Oklahoma City Museum of Art on Couch Dr. There are some amazing collections that pass through here in addition to the resident displays. Then there is the Museum of Osteology where there are hundreds of skeletons on display and there are numerous activities for kids and adults.
  • Golf: There are a number of golf courses across the vast expanse of Oklahoma City. Earlywine Golf Course (North) is an 18-hole, par 72 course located on S Portland Ave. This is a well maintained course, with the north course being favored over the south one. Trosper Park Golf Course on SE 29th St is a Municipal course with 18 holes and a par 71. And finally, there is the Lake Hefner Golf Club on S Lake Hefner Dr which is an 18-hole, par-72 course. There are a lot of other courses here but these are the three we suggest you get started with while staying your corporate housing in Oklahoma City.
  • Malls: There are three malls in the Oklahoma City area. The Penn Square Mall on NW Expressway that has the usual tenants including JC Penney, Macy’s and Dillard’s. Quail Springs Mall is in the north part of the city on W Memorial Rd. and houses dining, entertainment and shopping from national and international brands.  On the west end of the city you will find The Outlet malls that include famous brands like Coach, Guess, GAP, Brooks Brothers…a few among a very distinguished list.
  • Performing Arts: There are quite a few performing art centers spread across Oklahoma City. One of the best places you can catch a performance at is the Oklahoma City Philharmonic that showcases a wide variety of performances from violin virtuosos and symphonies from a pool of international talent. The Carpenter Square Theater on W. Main St. is another place to take in some culture.
  • Parks & Recreation: Oklahoma City has a lot of parks and recreation which it provides to the public. From city parks to botanical gardens and tennis courts, swimming pools, skate parks and fishing locations, there is a lot to do in this city.     • Fishing is available during most of the year at Crystal Lake on SW 15th St; the Route 66 Park ponds on W. Overholser Dr. and Zoo Lake on NE 50. Trout Season is between January 1st and February 28th at Dolese Youth Park Pond on NW50th St.
    • Trails where you can walk, run, bike and pretty much work up a sweat are scattered throughout the city. The Kay Trail on N. High Ave., the Bert Cooper Trials on Lake Hefner, and the Oklahoma River Trails all along the river are fantastic spots for this.
    • Tennis courts and facilities can be found at city parks like the Oklahoma Tennis Center at the Will Rogers Park on NW 36th and Portland. The Earlywine Tennis Center at Earlywine Park on SW 119th and May Ave.; and Ross Park on NW 62nd St.  All have fabulous facilities. Just note, that these aren’t the extent of it, there are lots more.
